What Is the Battlefield 1 Morse Code Easter Egg?

The best known one is on Fort de Vaux, where water dripping in a sealed room spells the web address ea.com/neverbethesame in Morse code. That address teased the reveal of Battlefield V in May 2018. The game hid Morse in other places too, mostly as clues in longer puzzle chains.

The Fort de Vaux door

Fort de Vaux arrived with the They Shall Not Pass expansion in 2017, and one locked door on the map stayed shut for more than a year. A later update added hidden switches, and once players worked out the right order, the room finally opened.

Inside, water dripping from the pipes spelled ea.com/neverbethesame in Morse. The page at that address showed the date May 23, 2018 and the line "On May 23, Battlefield will never be the same". That was the day EA revealed Battlefield V.

The headphone radio messages

Soon after launch in 2016, players noticed headphones lying around on some maps. Wearing them picked up Morse code from hidden radio stations.

The decoded text looked like nonsense, with strings such as PSVEKOU7BNIMAKAHZHTI, because each message was a clue in a puzzle that spread across several maps. The community needed months of work to finish the chain in early 2017.

Decoding game Morse yourself

Game Morse usually comes as short bursts buried in sound effects. Record the clip and play it into the audio decoder, or write down what you hear and paste it into the translator.

If it decodes to random letters, there may be a cipher on top, like the BF1 radio clues. The is this Morse code? page covers how to tell real Morse from lookalikes.
